Reusable Cleaning Cloths

Reusable cleaning clothes with doTERRA On Guard and Melaleuca essential oil

We are constantly striving for sustainability on the farm. we look for ways we can reduce, reuse, and recycle. Disposable cleaning cloths are super quick and easy, but they create lots of waste and contain some toxins. These reusable cloths combine the convenience of a 'ready to go' cleaning cloth with the peace of mind that you are not being wasteful and know what you are using in your home.

The first thing to do is get yourself some cleaning cloths. You can cut squares from old t-shirts, towels, or receiving blankets. We had a ton of tea towels so we used those and some old bath towel squares. The tea towels were great for a quick wipe down while the bath towel squares made quick work of the dirtiest of counters. We prefer our squares to be about the size of a washcloth, but you can make them as large or small as you prefer.

The second thing is to find a jar to hold your cloths. It should have a secure lid and large enough to get your hand in...and back out. (You laugh, but there is a reason I say this). Fill your jar with your cloths and mix up your cleaning mix.

1/2 cup distilled water (you want distilled water because it is less likely to introduce bacteria to your cleaning solution)

1/2 cup vinegar

a few drops of dish soap

20 drops doTerra On Guard

10 drops Melaleuca

Mix the water and vinegar. Add the drops of dish soap, On Guard, and Melaleuca. Mix gently and then pour over the cloths in the jar.

To use, simply grab a cloth and let it get to work. When you are finished you can rinse it out and put it back in the container, or you can throw it in the wash and return it after the wash. We prefer to wash ours then add them back in. We don't want any bacteria from the cloth contaminating our other cloths.

If your cloths start to dry out, mix up another batch of cleaning solution and pour it in.

Easy peasy. And you know exactly what you are putting on your counters.

These are our favorite washcloths and jars for these reusable cloths. We find the wide mouth of the jar is big enough for us to fit our hand in...which is a bonus:)
