Homemade Waffles

Our family LOVES waffles. They pretty much form a line when I'm making them. I barely get one off the waffle iron before the next person steps up. The great thing about waffles is that they are so versatile. You can top them with traditional butter and maple syrup, or you can go all out with strawberries and whipped cream. Either way, they're delicious. My favorite part about this recipe...I got the waffle iron for a dollar at a second hand store. Score. 

 

Waffles Recipe (if you want to make these as "clean" as possible, use local eggs, organic flour (white or whole wheat or even try spelt), raw milk, fresh butter, and organic sugar or maple syrup for the sweetner)

 

            
2 eggs 

            
2 cups all-purpose flour

            
1 3/4 cups milk

            
1/3 cup melted butter

            
1 tablespoon white sugar

            
4 teaspoons baking powder

            
1/4 teaspoon salt

            1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

            Oil for greasing the waffle iron. We usually use coconut for this, but you can use vegetable oil, or a spray

 

Preheat waffle iron. Mix it all together just until smooth.

Oil preheated waffle iron. Pour mix onto hot waffle iron (about ¼ cup). Cook until golden brown. It only takes a few minutes per side.
